If you don't know, now you know...
This is a beef patty.
It is greasy. It is dirty. It is delicious.
(If you didn't know what this was until now, I don't care if you lived in New York for the obligatory 10 years or whatever bullshit, you are not a New Yorker)

Oh, that takes me back to cheap lunches at the local pizza place when you just couldn't stand to eat another greasy slice. I remember the first time I saw someone had the pizza guy split it open and melt cheese on top. Its like gilding the lily but its artery clogging goodness at its finest.
been checking on your site for a while now. im from Jamaica and im smiling ear to ear with the knowledge that this fiesty chick from new york know what a beef patty is. have at least one a week...it will keep cancer away:D
Okay, well, where do you get them? I'm ready, willing, and hungry!
How is this different from an empanada? They look very similar, but I assume the innards are different.
And splitting it open and putting cheese on it sounds ingenious!
You can get them at any and every pizzeria in NYC even though they're actually Jamaican.
They look like empanadas, but that's where the similarities end.
not every pizzeria has em... almost all the pizzeria's in the bronx and queens has them but a lot of the city ones don't.
There aren't any real pizzerias left in New York City.
i feel sorry for u guys.....there are dozens of patty shops here in Jamaica. its very big business out here...i should start a business:D...ill Fedex the patties...just send credit card information
There's a chain store in NYC called Golden Krust that sells beef patties. There's one in Grand Central station. But it's not as good as the OG ones I used to get from the dirty pizerria by my mom's store in Elmhurst.
